1 Scope

GB/T 45041-2024 is the Chinese product standard for wool and wool-like knitted goods for infants and young children. Textiles for babies are regulated more tightly than any other clothing in China, and this standard applies the general safety requirements of GB 18401 and GB 31701 to a specific and difficult category: wool is scratchy, it felts and shrinks when washed, and the finishes used to prevent that are exactly the ones that raise chemical safety questions. The document sets the classification and the requirements: the fibre content and its tolerance, the dimensional change on washing, the pilling, the bursting strength and the seam performance, the colour fastness to washing, water, perspiration, rubbing and saliva, the formaldehyde content, the pH, the decomposable aromatic amines from azo dyes, the odour and the requirements on accessories and sharp objects, together with the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking and packaging. For a knitwear maker or a buyer inspecting a delivery in China, this is the acceptance text.
