GB/T 44995-2024 is the Chinese national standard covering how a laboratory builds a first-pass test to tell whether a polypropylene container has recycled resin blended into it — the equipment, the preparation of the samples, the test methods themselves, among them the melt mass flow rate and the resistance to oxidative decomposition measured by calorimetry, the properties a screening reads to flag a batch worth a closer look, the analysis of the results, and the test report. It is guidance on constructing the screening method, not a limit on how much recycled content a container may hold. First edition, under the China National Light Industry Council. In force from 1 June 2025. Issued on 28 November 2024, it has been in force since 1 June 2025.

1 Scope

This document provides a test machine for the initial screening test method for adulterated recycled plastics in polypropylene (PP) packaging containers (hereinafter referred to as "containers").

Guidance on test equipment, sample preparation, test methods, analysis of results and test reporting.

This document is applicable to the initial screening test method for recycled plastics in packaging containers processed and prepared with polypropylene resin as the main raw material Build.

This document is not applicable to the construction of preliminary screening test methods for adulterated recycled plastics in other plastics and olefin composite products.

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 2035 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 recycled plastic

Plastics made from washed and shredded waste products.

3.2 Melt mass flow rate meltmassflowrate; MFR

Under the conditions of specified temperature, load and piston position, the extrusion rate of molten resin through a die of specified length and inner diameter is specified.

The mass extruded over time was taken as the melt mass flow rate.

Note. The unit is gram per ten minutes (g/10min).

3.3

A relative measure of the resistance of a stabilized material to oxidative decomposition. Determined by calorimetry at normal pressure, oxygen or air atmosphere and specified temperature.
