Scope

GB/T 44939-2024 is the English-translated version of 消费品质量分级导则 鞋类.

GB/T 44939-2024 gives the Chinese guidelines for grading the quality of footwear, within the consumer product quality grading programme. Footwear is the classic case the programme was designed for: China makes most of the world's shoes, the price range in any Chinese shop spans an order of magnitude, and a buyer cannot tell from the shelf whether the sole will separate after a season. The standard sets the grading indicator system and the grades, with the requirements at each: the peel strength of the sole bond and the attachment of components, which is the failure that ends most shoes, the flex resistance of the sole and the upper, the abrasion and slip resistance, the colour fastness and the water resistance of the materials, the dimensional and workmanship quality, the comfort-related properties and the chemical requirements on the materials in contact with the foot. It then sets the evaluation method and the rules by which a grade may be claimed and substantiated. It takes effect on 1 June 2025.
