Scope

GB/T 44598-2024 is the English-translated version of 多域IPv6单栈网络总体技术要求.

GB/T 44598-2024 is the Chinese national standard covering a backbone that routes and forwards IPv6 alone while it still has to carry IPv4 traffic — the five communication scenarios, including an IPv4 host reaching an IPv6 service and the reverse, the addressing and the address mapping rules, the IPv4-to-IPv6 forwarding at the ingress node, the system composition and the IPv6-only access side, the fit with 464XLAT and dual-stack access, the interconnection with outside networks, and the SRv6 support. First edition, under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In force from 1 January 2025. Issued on 29 September 2024, it has been in force since 1 January 2025.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 IPv6-only network

A network that uses a single IPv6 protocol stack for routing and forwarding.

Note. An IPv6 single-stack network is also called a pure IPv6 network.

3.2 IngressNode

The edge node when service data packets flow into the multi-domain IPv6 single-stack backbone network.

Note. Responsible for converting IPv4 packets into IPv6 packets.
