1 Scope

GB/T 44416-2024 defines the information sets for road traffic safety prompts and warnings in China, the structured messages that a traffic management centre issues and that navigation applications, variable message signs and in-vehicle systems consume. The value of a warning depends entirely on it arriving in a form the receiving system can act on: free text reaches a driver as a scrolling line, whereas a coded event with a location, a time window and a severity can be routed, mapped and used for rerouting. The standard sets the classification codes and names of the events, and then the data structure for each class in turn, traffic accidents, road excavation and construction, traffic congestion, adverse weather, road closures and restrictions, hazards and obstructions and the rest, specifying for each the attributes that must be carried, the location referencing, the validity period, the affected direction and lanes and the severity. It took effect on 23 August 2024, and for anyone building navigation or connected vehicle services in China it is the vocabulary of the traffic feed.

This document specifies the classification codes and names, data structure and standardized format of road traffic safety warning information.
