Scope
GB/T 43971-2024 is the English-translated version of 遥感器定标用积分球光源测试规范.
GB/T 43971-2024 specifies how the light source used to calibrate remote sensing instruments is itself tested. An integrating sphere produces a large, uniform, known field of light, and it is what an imaging spectrometer or a satellite camera is calibrated against before launch - which makes it the origin of the radiometric scale for everything the instrument will ever measure. That places an unusual burden on the sphere: its own uniformity across the aperture, the stability of its output over the hours a calibration takes, its spectral distribution, and the traceability of its radiance all become part of the uncertainty of the satellite data. A sphere that has drifted or whose coating has aged propagates a systematic error into a dataset used for climate and land-cover records, invisibly and for years. This document specifies the general requirements, the test items and methods, the test inspection and the test result reporting for integrating sphere light sources used in remote sensor calibration, across the output wavelength range it covers. Under ICS 17.180.30 and CCS N35, it is written for calibration laboratories, remote sensing instrument developers, and metrology institutes.
