1 Scope

China's national requirements for copyright asset management systems. A copyright asset management system is what an organisation that owns creative works uses to know what it owns: the works themselves, who created them, what rights were assigned and for what territories and terms, what licences have been granted, and when each expires. It sounds administrative and it is the difference between a catalogue that can be exploited and one that cannot. A publisher, a broadcaster, a music company or a games studio that cannot establish the chain of title for a work cannot license it, cannot defend it, and may not lawfully use it themselves. The problem has grown with the volume of digital content and with the number of small transactions - a system that worked for a hundred titles and a dozen licensees does not work for a catalogue of millions and automated licensing.

This document specifies the requirements for a copyright asset management system in the context of an organizational setting. This document is suitable for organizations of any size, type and nature to manage their copyright assets. Note

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 33172 and the following apply to this document.
