Scope
GB/T 42982-2023 is the English-translated version of 工业机器人平均无故障工作时间计算方法.
This document specifies how the mean time between failures of an industrial robot is calculated: the sampling method, the test conditions, the way a failure is judged, and the test report; it also describes the test site and the methods of testing in the field.
The document applies to the calculation of mean time between failures when the reliability of an industrial robot product is verified, measured or assessed.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
1 Scope
This document specifies the sampling methods, test conditions, fault determination methods and test reports for calculating the average trouble-free working time of industrial robots. The report describes test site and field test methods.
This document is applicable to the calculation of the mean working time between failures when conducting reliability verification, measurement, and evaluation of industrial robot products.
2 Normative reference documents
The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, the dated quotations For undated referenced documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated referenced documents, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Reliability
The ability to complete specified functions under specified conditions and within a specified time interval.
Note: It is generally believed that industrial robots are always in a state that can complete the required functions within the time interval. In addition, although the magnitude of reliability exists objectively,, but it is actually unknown, and its estimated value can only be obtained through certain statistical calculations using limited sample observation data. 3.2 Mean time between failures
The mathematical expectation of working time between adjacent faults also refers to the average working time or mean time between two adjacent faults. [Source: GB/T 23567.1-2009, 3.7, with modifications]
3.3 Industrial robot
Automatically controlled, reprogrammable, multi-purpose manipulator capable of programming three or more axes. It can be fixed or Mobile, used in industrial automation. [Source: GB/T 12643-2013,2.9]
3.4 (thetaL,thetaU)
The possible range of the true value of MTBF (3.2) under test conditions, that is, the interval estimate of MTBF (3.2) under the specified confidence level.
