Scope
GB/T 42400-2023 is the English-translated version of 激光熔覆修复金属零部件硬度试验方法.
GB/T 42400-2023 tells laboratories how to measure the hardness of metal parts repaired by laser cladding.
It defines the terms used and specifies the test objects and their classification, the samples, the measurement methods and areas, the test equipment, the test steps, data processing, the measurement uncertainty and the test report; test objects are process test pieces or the physical parts themselves, and testing is classified as sampling testing, where a specimen is cut out, or in-situ testing.
A normative annex fixes how process test pieces are made: the shape and size of the damaged part, the base material, the cladding material and the laser equipment and repair process.
Clause 4 takes the Vickers, Shore and Leeb test principles from GB/T 4340.1-2009, GB/T 4341.1-2014 and GB/T 17394.1-2014. Issued on 17 March 2023, it has applied since 1 October 2023.
