Scope
GB/T 42290-2022 is the English-translated version of 压水堆核电厂气载放射性源项分析和控制规范.
GB/T 42290-2022 tells designers and operators of pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants how to analyse and control the airborne radioactive source term inside plant buildings.
Clause 1 states that it specifies the analysis method for that source term, the selection principles for the important parameters and the airborne radioactivity control requirements, and that other types of nuclear power plant may use it as a reference.
Clause 3 defines the quantities the analysis runs on: free space volume, the ventilation rate as the ratio of ventilation flow to that volume, leakage rate, evaporation rate and the gas-phase partition factor.
Informative annexes cover leakage and evaporation rates, partition factors, radiation zoning, routine monitoring points, fuel element damage and negative pressure shelters.
It declares no normative references. Issued on 30 December 2022, it has applied since 1 July 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
1 Scope
This document specifies the analysis method for the airborne radioactive source item in the building of a pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant, the selection principles of important parameters, and the airborne radioactive source item. Sexual control requirements.
This document is applicable to the analysis and control of airborne radioactive source items in the building of the pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant. Other types of nuclear power plants can refer to Test implementation.
2 Normative references
This document has no normative references.
3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 airborne radioactive source term
Items of radioactive sources carried by air or other gaseous media.
Note: Usually a general term for radioactive aerosols, radioactive gases and vapors.
3.2 Free space volume
freevolume The volume corresponding to the space that gas can freely reach in the building of a nuclear facility.
3.3
The ratio of the ventilation flow rate of the ventilation system in the nuclear facility building to the free space volume of the building.
3.4 Leakage rate
The leakage of radioactive liquid or gas in the system or equipment per unit time.
3.5 Evaporation rate
Evaporation of radioactive liquid in the system or equipment per unit time.
3.6 When
the gas and liquid are in equilibrium, the ratio of the amount of a certain nuclide in the gas phase to the total amount in the gas and liquid phases.
4 General rules
4.1 During the design and operation stages of the PWR nuclear power plant, the airborne radioactivity level in the building should be evaluated to analyze the possible exposure of the workers.
