GB/T 42125.4-2024 carries the particular safety requirements for climatic and environmental test chambers and other temperature conditioning equipment, within the Chinese adoption of the IEC 61010 series for measurement, control and laboratory equipment. These machines are a distinctive hazard case: they hold large volumes at temperatures from far below ambient to several hundred degrees, they may run unattended for weeks, they contain refrigerant under pressure and often flammable refrigerant at that, and the specimen inside them can itself burn or explode. The standard modifies the general requirements of Part 1 clause by clause to deal with that, covering the protection against mechanical hazards, the resistance to mechanical stress, the prevention of the spread of fire, the temperature limits and heat resistance of the equipment, the protection against hazards from fluids and solid foreign bodies, against radiation including laser sources and against sound and ultrasonic pressure, the protection against released gases and substances and against explosion and implosion, the components and assemblies, and the protection by interlocks. For a chamber manufacturer or a laboratory buying one in China, this is the safety text a product is certified against.
