Scope

GB/T 42083-2022 is the English-translated version of 4Cr5MoSiV1热作模具钢件的热处理.

GB/T 42083-2022 sets out how parts made of 4Cr5MoSiV1 hot work die steel are heat treated by vacuum high-pressure gas quenching - quenching in a vacuum furnace with one or more non-oxidising gases above 0.5 MPa as the medium.

It fixes the material quality requirements, the heat treatment equipment, the process itself, the quality inspection and the quality certificate.

Normative annexes give the impact specimens and test method, the test method for the cooling capacity of the quenching furnace, and the samples required for special-grade steel moulds; informative ones give the steel grades and chemical composition, the die-casting mould process curve, the continuous cooling transformation curve and the tempering temperature-hardness relation, and a surface treatment process.

Oil quenching of 4Cr5MoSiV1 and similar steels is covered only by reference. Issued on 30 December 2022, it has applied since 1 April 2023.
