Scope
GB/T 41957-2022 is the English-translated version of 炭黑原料油 石油炼制催化油浆.
China's national standard for the fluid catalytic cracking slurry oil used as carbon black feedstock. It specifies the technical requirements, the test methods, the sampling and the inspection. Carbon black is made by burning or thermally decomposing a heavy aromatic oil under controlled conditions, and the feedstock determines the yield and the character of the product. FCC slurry oil - the heaviest bottoms of the catalytic cracker, too aromatic and too laden with catalyst fines to be worth much as fuel - is close to ideal for the purpose: its high aromaticity is what gives good carbon black yield, since aromatic rings condense to graphitic structures readily. The specification's difficulty is the catalyst fines, which come over from the cracker and end up as ash in the carbon black, where they are abrasive and unacceptable in a rubber compound. Ash content and the Bureau of Mines correlation index are therefore the numbers the trade turns on.

This document specifies the technical requirements, test methods, sampling, inspection rules, and storage of carbon black feedstock oil refining catalytic slurry. This document applies to carbon black feedstock oil refining catalytic oil slurry.
