3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in ISO 13943 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 afterglow

The sustained glow of a material after the flame has ceased to be removed from the source of ignition under specified conditions, or when no flame is produced.

3.2 Flame spread time

The time required for a flame front on a burning material to travel a specified distance along a surface or to cover a specified surface area under specified conditions.

Note. The flame front refers to the boundary of the flaming burning area on the surface of the material or through the gas mixture.

3.3 flamingdroplet

Molten substance that separates from the burning object and continues to burn during the dripping process during the test.

The location of the flame at the leading edge of the affected area.
