Scope
GB/T 41925-2022 is the English-translated version of 城市地下空间与地下工程分类.
GB/T 41925-2022 is the Chinese national classification of urban underground space and of the engineering works built in it, covering the related resources, facilities and technologies.
Its contents list sets out eight ways of classifying the space itself - by functional properties, construction form, development depth, geotechnical environment, groundwater environment, right of use, layout form and resource partition control - and two ways of classifying the engineering, by type of underground structure and by construction method.
Clause 3 takes its terms from JGJ/T 335 and defines development depth as the deepest distance of the main structure below the surface, excluding pile foundations and foundation reinforcement.
Clause 1 says the document applies to the planning, survey, design, construction, use, maintenance and management of underground space development within city limits.
It was proposed and is administered by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, was issued on 30 December 2022 and has applied since 1 July 2023.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in JGJ/T 335 apply to this document.
3.1 Functional properties
Under certain conditions, underground space has specific functions.
3.2 Construction form
The underground space is separated or combined with the structure of a certain volume of ground or surrounding buildings.
3.3 Development depth
The deepest distance that the main structure of underground space facilities (excluding pile foundation and foundation reinforcement) is located under the surface.
3.4 geotechnical environment
The general term for various geotechnical factors that affect the development of underground space or underground engineering construction.
3.5 groundwater environment
The general term for various groundwater burial conditions that affect underground space or underground engineering construction.
3.6 Underground structure
It is a space force system built underground to bear various loads, act as a skeleton, and provide a certain purpose.
Note: Also known as "underground building structure" or "underground space structure".
3.7 Construction method
A general term for representative and repetitive civil engineering construction techniques.
