Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the rules in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for

Standardization - Part 1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.

This document modifies and adopts ISO 11406.2001 Commercial Road Vehicles - Mechanical

Coupling between Towing Vehicles with Rear-mounted Coupling and Drawbar Trailers -

Interchangeability.

In comparison with ISO 11406.2001, this document makes the following structural adjustments.

a) Chapter 2 Normative References is added;

b) Chapter 3 Terms and Definitions is added;

c) Chapter 4 corresponds to Chapter 2 of ISO 11406.2001;

d) Appendix A corresponds to Appendix B of ISO 11406.2001;

e) Appendix B corresponds to Appendix A of ISO 11406.2001.

The technical difference between this document and ISO 11406.2001, and the cause for the

difference is as follows.

---The length of drawbar trailer combination is adjusted from "less than or equal to 18,750

mm" into "less than or equal to 20,000 mm" (see 4.1.1), so as to comply with the

requirements of the length limit of freight trains in China.

This document makes the following editorial modifications.

a) "commercial" is deleted from the title of the document;

b) The content of No.1 technical corrigendum of ISO 11406.2001 is incorporated; the

position of the marking arrow representing the minimum front radius of gyration (Cmin)

in Figure 2 is modified from the first circular arc line on the left to the second circular

arc line.

- Interchangeability

1 Scope

This document specifies the requirements for interchangeability dimensions of mechanical

coupling between towing trucks with rear-mounted coupling and drawbar trailers.

This document is applicable to combination vehicles consisting of a towing truck with rear-

mounted coupling and a drawbar trailer.

This document does not apply to special-purpose combination vehicles that can be extended,

and with the coupling mounted on the front lower part of the towing truck and a closed coupling

device.

NOTE. the combination vehicle models (see Appendix A) that comply with the requirements of

this document and the combination vehicle models that comply with the requirements of

GB/T 41651 do not have interchangeability.

versions with a specified date are applicable to this document. In terms of references without a
