1 Scope

This document defines the term definitions and nomenclature used in the naming, production and use of crosslinkable prepregs.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 2035-2008 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 General terms

3.1.1

prepreg

An intermediate product made of tow or fabric impregnated with a thermosetting resin or thermoplastic resin matrix for the manufacture of composite materials.

Note. The prepreg products are in the form of sheets, ribbons or flat strands and can be stored for later use (the thermosetting matrix usually needs to be refrigerated).

3.1.2

When cured by heating or radiation, catalysis, etc., it can become a substantially infusible and insoluble material.

3.2 Materials used

Reinforcement material reinforcement

A natural or synthetic material, usually in the form of fibers, added to resins to improve mechanical properties.

Substances added to polymers to improve or alter their properties.

Note. In a narrow sense, the term "additive" only refers to the component added in a small amount, and a "modifier" is used when the added amount is large.
