GB/T 41186-2021 is the English-translated version of 鲜、活鲍分级.

GB/T 41186-2021 is the Chinese national standard for grading fresh and live abalone.

It sets the requirements the animals must meet - size and mass classes, appearance, vitality and freshness, and the safety limits that apply - together with the test methods, the inspection rules and the provisions on packaging, labelling and transport, which for a live product decide whether it arrives alive.

It is written for Haliotis discus hannai, the northern abalone farmed in China, and other species may follow it as a reference. Farms, traders and buyers use it to agree on a grade. Issued on 31 December 2021, it has applied since 1 July 2022.
