1 Scope
This document defines the terms for the important characteristics of alpine skis, cross-country skis (XC-skis) and ski snowboards.

3 Terms and definitions
3.1
Ski
A sliding device with a narrow width relative to the length. The front end is tilted upward in an arc to overcome obstacles. Used in snow, ice and
Sports and entertainment devices for sliding on artificial snow can also be used for other purposes.
Note. The term "snowboard" does not apply to other conditions, such as sliding on a plastic mat, unless the manufacturer explicitly states it. In this document, the term "snowboard" applies

3.2
Alpine skis alpineski
A ski that uses gravity to slide down a slope.
Note. The direction and speed of the snowboard can be controlled through the composite movement of the longitudinal and lateral directions. In order to better control the skis, the edge blades are usually hard and durable.
Grinding materials.
3.2.1
Mountaineeringski
Used for alpine skis up and downhill.
Note. It is usually equipped with a retainer that can lift the heel when going uphill (generally speaking, skis are light, short and wide).
3.2.2
Snowfieldslider
Snowboard used for skiing in snowfields.
Note. The length of the board generally does not exceed twice the length of the ski boots for alpine skis.
3.2.3
Downhilski
Alpine skis for high-speed downhill competitions.
3.2.4
Slalomski
According to the rules of the International Snow Federation slalom race, the alpine skis used for slalom competitions.

Giant-slalomski
According to the rules of the International Snow Federation Giant Slalom, the alpine skis used for giant slalom competitions.
