Scope
GB/T 40673-2021 is the English-translated version of 计时仪器 辐射发光涂层检验条件.
GB/T 40673-2021 sets the conditions under which radioluminescent coatings applied to parts of timekeeping instruments, such as hands, dials and bezels, are checked.
It defines the user who handles and applies radioluminescent substances, a new support and a new deposit, and requires every radioluminescent coating to withstand the tests of chapter 4 of QB 1988-2007 under the specified conditions.
Colour, specific luminous intensity and ageing resistance are checked on five standard coatings, because substances and binders vary from one production batch to another.
Where users apply a luminescent material under conditions different from those defined by its manufacturer, such as binder ratio, the inspection becomes their responsibility.
Watch and clock makers and coating users apply it. It was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 May 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
1 Scope
This document specifies the conditions for the inspection of the radioluminescent coating of timekeeping instruments.
This document applies to radioluminescent coatings on parts of timekeeping instruments.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 User
People who handle and apply radioluminescent substances.
3.2 New support
Due to material properties and surface treatment, parts that have not been used by radioluminescent substance users (pointers, dials/discs, front bezels, etc.).
3.3 New coating
Due to the shape or size, the radioluminescent material coating has not been used by the user of the radioluminescent material.
4 Inspection conditions
4.1 General requirements
All radioluminescent coatings should be able to withstand the tests specified in Chapter 4 of QB1988-2007 under the conditions specified in 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4.
4.2 Color, specific luminous intensity and aging resistance test conditions
There are differences in the performance of radioluminescent substances and binders in different production batches.
The inspection of light intensity and aging resistance shall be carried out on 5 standard coatings according to the definition in 4.1c) of QB1988-2007.
If the user applies this under conditions that are inconsistent with the conditions defined by the manufacturer of this substance (binder ratio and performance) for some luminescent materials, the user is responsible for the inspection.
