GB/T 40658-2021 is the English-translated version of 溴化钾光学元件.
GB/T 40658-2021 is the Chinese national standard for optical elements made of potassium bromide crystal. It sets the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the packaging, marking, transport and storage of these components.

1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and transportation of potassium bromide optical components (hereinafter referred to as potassium bromide). Requirements for transportation and storage.
This document applies to the manufacture and acceptance of potassium bromide optical components.

4 Technical requirements
4.1 Performance
4.1.1 Density
The density of potassium bromide is (2.75±0.02) g/cm³.
4.1.2 Crystal orientation
The crystal orientation of potassium bromide is < 111>, < 110>, and < 100>.
4.1.3 Vickers hardness
The Vickers hardness value along the (100) direction should not be less than 10.56kg/mm².
4.1.4 Melting point
The melting point of potassium bromide is (734±2)°C.
