Scope
GB/T 40363-2021 is the English-translated version of 冷藏集装箱和冷藏保温车用硬质聚氨酯泡沫塑料.
GB/T 40363-2021 covers rigid polyurethane foam, made mainly from polyols and polyisocyanates, used to insulate refrigerated containers, refrigerated trailers and insulated vehicles.
It divides the material into Class I, cast on site, and Class II, cut from block foam. Requirements include dimensional deviations for Class II, combustion performance to GB 8410 for transport use, and a ban on CFC blowing agents, extended to HCFCs for Class I, checked by residual blowing agent tests.
Test methods cover sample preparation, with a reference mould scheme for Class I in Appendix A, and conditioning to GB/T 2918-2018. Inspection rules set factory and type inspections, batches of up to 1,000 m³ for Class I and 10,000 m³ for Class II, and retesting on a double sample. It was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

1 Scope
This Standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of rigid polyurethane cellular materials used for refrigerated containers, refrigerated trailers, and insulated vehicles.
This Standard applies to rigid polyurethane foam produced using polyols and polyisocyanates as the main raw materials, and used for insulation of refrigerated containers (standard containers), refrigerated trailers, and insulated vehicles. Other polyurethane foams for refrigerated containers and insulated containers may also be adopted with reference to this Standard.

3 Classification
The products are classified into two types based on their manufacturing process.
a) Class I - produced using on-site casting process;
b) Class II - produced using block bubble cutting process.
4 Requirements
4.1 Length, width, and diagonal
The limit deviation for the length, width and diagonal of the product shall meet the requirements in Table 1 (applicable only to Class II products).
4.4 Combustion performance
Products used in the transportation sector shall comply with the provisions of GB 8410 regarding combustion performance.
4.5 Environmental performance
For Class I products, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) or hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) shall not be used as foaming agents. Residual foaming agent testing of the finished product foam or its raw materials shall not detect CFCs or HCFCs.
For Class II products, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) shall not be used as foaming agents.
Residual foaming agent testing of the finished product foam or its raw materials shall not detect CFCs.
5 Test Methods
5.1 Sample preparation
For Class I products (cast foam), samples shall be taken from the finished product upon delivery.
Alternatively, samples may be prepared by mutual agreement between the supplier and the purchaser. Appendix A provides a reference scheme for preparing test samples for Class I products using a dedicated mold.
NOTE: Secondary foaming (or corner foaming) used for box assembly is not included in the sampling scope.
For Class II products (block foam), samples shall be taken from the finished product upon delivery. Alternatively, samples may be prepared according to the agreement between the supplier and the purchaser.
5.2 Conditioning
All tests shall be conducted according to the 23/50 standard conditions specified in GB/T 2918-2018. Samples will be conditioned for at least 16 h at a temperature of (23 ± 2) °C and a relative […]
6 Inspection Rules
6.1 Inspection classification
6.1.1 Exit-factory inspection
The exit-factory inspection item for Class I products is apparent core density.
The exit-factory inspection items for Class II products are the limit deviations for length, width, diagonal, and thickness; and apparent core density.
6.1.2 Type inspection
The type inspection includes all items in Clause 4. Type testing shall be conducted under any of the following circumstances.
a) When taking a type approval for a new product trial production;
b) When there are significant changes in structure, raw materials, or processes that may affect product performance, after formal production;
c) When it is during normal production, Class I products shall be tested every two years, and Class II products shall be tested annually;
d) When production resumes after a six-month long-term shutdown;
e) When the exit-factory inspection results differ significantly from the previous type testing results;
f) When the national quality supervision agency requests type testing.
6.2 Batching and sampling
6.2.1 Batching
Class I products using the same raw materials, formula, process conditions, and model, with a quantity not exceeding 1,000 m³, constitute a batch; or a batch based on weekly production.
Class II products using the same raw materials, formula, process conditions, and model, with a quantity not exceeding 10,000 m³, constitute a batch; or a batch based on daily production.
Batching can also be separately agreed upon by the supplier and the purchaser based on factors such as raw materials, formula, process conditions, and quantity, etc.
6.2.2 Sampling
Randomly select samples from the product.
6.3 Judgment rules
If any physical property fails to meet the standard, double sample size shall be taken from the original batch for retesting. The retest result shall be the arithmetic mean of the double sample size. If the result is still unsatisfactory, the batch is considered unqualified.
7 Marking, Packaging, Transportation, and Storage
(Applicable only to Class II Products)
7.1 The product shall have a certificate of conformity. The product shall be labeled with its name, category, grade, quantity, production date, batch number, manufacturer's name, manufacturer's address, inspector's stamp, and this standard number, etc.
7.2 Product packaging shall consider environmental protection, moisture protection, impact resistance, and low temperature requirements.
7.3 Smoking and open flames are strictly prohibited during transportation. Protect the product from direct sunlight and rain, and avoid prolonged pressure and mechanical damage.
7.4 The product shall be stored in a clean, ventilated, and dry warehouse, away from heat sources and chemicals. […]
