Scope
GB/T 40320-2021 is the English-translated version of 铝合金力学熔点测试方法.
GB/T 40320-2021 gives a test method for the mechanical melting temperature of aluminium alloys, the interval between the peak temperature at which residual stress is highest and the temperature at which it falls to its trough.
A testing machine simulates the thermal cycle of hot working at different peak temperatures, the residual stress is measured for each, and the mechanical melting temperature is calculated from the curve of residual stress against peak temperature.
The testing machine is calibrated to GB/T 16825.1-2008 at class 1 or 0.5, and the references include thermocouple wire to GB/T 2614 and tensile specimens to GB/T 16865.
It applies to aluminium alloy plates and profiles, to optimise the parameters of welding, heat treatment, casting, forging and other hot working. It was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
1 Scope
This document specifies the test method for the mechanical melting point of aluminum alloys.
This document is applicable to the mechanical melting point test and its parameters of the welding, heat treatment, casting, forging and other hot working processes of aluminum alloy plates or profiles. Number optimization.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute the indispensable clauses of this document through normative references in the text. 3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Mechanical melting temperature
Determine the residual stress of the metal material after thermal cycling at different peak temperatures, and form the residual stress and peak temperature curve, and the residual stress reaches the wave The interval between the temperature at the peak and the temperature at which the residual stress drops to the trough, in °C.
Note: On the curve of residual stress and peak temperature, the temperature at the peak is the starting temperature of the mechanical melting point, and the temperature at the trough is the ending temperature of the mechanical melting point.
3.2 Thermal cycle curve
The curve of temperature change with time during heating and cooling.
4 Principles of the method
The testing machine is used to simulate the thermal cycle curve at different peak temperatures during the thermal processing of aluminum alloys, and the residuals at different peak temperatures are measured. Stress, the relationship between residual stress and peak temperature is obtained, and the mechanical melting point of aluminum alloy is obtained by calculation.
5 Apparatus and equipment
5.1 Testing machine
5.1.1 The force measurement system of the testing machine should be calibrated in accordance with GB/T 16825.1-2008, and its accuracy should be level 1 or level 0.5.
