Scope

GB/T 39936-2021 is the English-translated version of 深冷保冷用泡沫塑料.

GB/T 39936-2021 covers preformed rigid foams used for thermal insulation at cryogenic temperatures.

It applies to preformed rigid polyisocyanurate foam (PIR) for cold insulation between -196 °C and 120 °C and to preformed rigid polyurethane foam (PUR) between -110 °C and 100 °C. Products are divided into these two categories by material and into seven grades by density, starting at 50 kg/m³.

The standard sets the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, transport and storage, and its referenced methods cover apparent density, compressive properties, thermal resistance, linear expansion below ambient temperature, open and closed cell content, water vapour transmission, dimensional stability, oxygen index, soluble chloride content, residual blowing agent and ozone-depleting substances. It was issued on 9 March 2021 and has applied since 1 October 2021.
