Scope
GB/T 38146.2-2019 is the English-translated version of 中国汽车行驶工况 第2部分:重型商用车辆.
Part 2 of the China Automotive Test Cycle, covering heavy-duty commercial vehicles. It specifies the terms and definitions and the construction of the cycle, with a normative annex on the source data. Heavy vehicles needed their own cycle for reasons beyond size. A truck's duty depends on what it is: a city refuse vehicle, a regional distribution truck, a long-haul tractor and a coach have almost nothing in common in their speed profiles, their load factors or their proportion of idling, and a single cycle would misrepresent all of them. The heavy-duty cycle is therefore built from separate profiles for the vehicle categories, derived like the light-duty one from logged Chinese operation. It matters more than the passenger car cycle in one respect: heavy vehicles are a small fraction of the fleet and a large fraction of the fuel burned and the nitrogen oxides emitted, so the accuracy of their figures has a disproportionate effect on policy.

Foreword
GB/T 38146 "China automotive test cycle" is divided into 3 parts. - Part
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 38146 specifies the construction of the test cycle of heavy- duty commercial vehicles. This Part applies to commercial vehicles with a maximum design total mass greater than 3500 kg.
