Scope
GB/T 38104-2019 is the English-translated version of 磷尾矿处理处置技术规范.
GB/T 38104-2019 is a technical specification for the treatment and disposal of phosphorus tailings.
Clause 1 states that it specifies the terms and definitions of phosphorus tailings treatment and disposal, the treatment and disposal methods and the environmental protection requirements, and that it applies to the treatment and disposal of phosphorus tailings produced in the field of the phosphorus chemical industry.
Clause 2 cites GB 5085.3, GB 5085.7, GB 8978, GB 16297, GB 18599 and HG/T 2959.
Clause 3 defines phosphorus tailings, as the waste slag produced in the process of selecting phosphate rock with phosphate rock as the raw material, and aggregate, as granular loose material used mainly as a skeleton or filling and also as an inexpensive filler for cementitious materials, with a note that aggregate in this standard refers to phosphate tailings.
Clause 4, on treatment and disposal methods, opens with the preparation of basic magnesium carbonate, whose scope of application is limited to phosphorus tailings with a magnesium content greater than 15 % and whose method summary runs from high-temperature calcination of the tailings, which decomposes calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate into calcium oxide and magnesium oxide, through water digestion and carbonization with carbon dioxide to purification by filtration of the filter residue and concentration by cooling, which yields a basic magnesium carbonate product.
The draft on the page breaks off after that summary, so the further treatment and disposal methods and the environmental protection requirements announced in clause 1 are not shown.
The standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and is under the jurisdiction of the National Waste Chemical Treatment Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC294). It was issued on 2019-10-18 and has applied since 2020-09-01.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Phosphorus tailings
The waste slag produced in the process of selecting phosphate rock with phosphate rock as raw material.
3.2 Aggregate
It is mainly used as a granular loose material for skeleton or filling, and also as an inexpensive filler for cementitious materials.
Note: This standard aggregate refers to phosphate tailings.
4 Treatment and disposal methods
4.1 Preparation of basic magnesium carbonate
4.1.1 Scope of application
Phosphorus tailings with a magnesium content greater than 15%.
4.1.2 Method summary
High-temperature calcination of phosphorus tailings to decompose calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate into calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, water digestion, carbon dioxide carbonization and carbon removal The filter residue such as calcium acid and fluoroapatite is purified by filtration and concentrated by cooling to obtain a basic magnesium carbonate product.
