3.1 Biological products

Products made from biotechnology.

Note. The biological products in this standard specifically refer to microorganisms and enzyme products that have the function of degrading phenolic pollutants.

3.2 Phenolic compound

A compound formed by substituting a hydrogen atom on a benzene ring in an aromatic hydrocarbon with a hydroxyl group is a hydroxyl group-containing derivative of an aromatic hydrocarbon.

Note 1. According to the number of hydroxyl groups contained in its molecule, it can be divided into monohydric phenol and polyhydric phenol.

Note 2. These compounds can be inhaled, ingested or absorbed through the skin and cause poisoning. Low doses can cause severe poisoning and are also substances that cause malignant tumors.
