Scope

GB/T 38011-2019 is the English-translated version of 鞋类 整鞋试验方法 帮带拔出力.

China's national test method for the pull-out force of upper bands in whole footwear. It specifies the principle, the equipment, the specimens and the procedure. The band in question is the strap of a sandal or a slipper where it enters the sole, and the test measures the force needed to pull it out. It is a whole shoe test rather than a material test, which is the distinction that matters: what is being measured is the joint as it was made in production, complete with whatever adhesive, stitching or moulding holds it, not the strength of the strap material. That is the failure that customers experience - a sandal strap that pulls free at the sole is the classic footwear complaint, and it happens without warning, usually to one shoe of a pair. It is also a safety matter rather than only a durability one, since a strap that releases while walking causes a fall.

Footwear - Test Methods for Whole Shoe -Pull-out Force of Upper Bands 1 Scope

This Standard stipulates the test methods for whole shoe in the pull-out force of upper bands. This Standard is applicable to whole shoe in footwear.

2 Normative References

The following documents are indispensable to the application of this document. In terms of references with a specified date, only versions with a specified date are applicable to this document. In terms of references without a specified date, the latest version (including all the modifications) is applicable to this document.

3 Principle

Adopt tension testing machine, which can continuously record tension, to determine the maximum tension value (namely, pull-out force of upper band) when pulling upper band out of shoe sole.

4 Instruments and Equipment 4.1 Tension Testing Machine 4.1.1 Comply with Grade-2 requirements in GB/T 16825.1-2008; measuring range: not less than 350 N; equipped with an indicating device, which can record the maximum tension value.

5.2.3 If the width of the upper band is less than

25.0 mm, cutting will be unnecessary; directly cut open the upper band from the middle.

5.2.4 Use Vernier caliper to measure the width of the upper band where it connects with the bottom of the band. If the shoes are in shoelace-style structure, then, measure the diameter of the circular cross section of the upper band where it connects with the bottom of the band.

5.2.5 Respectively test the internal side and the external side of the upper band. In terms of flip-flops, the pull-out force of the upper band in the thong part shall also be tested.

5.3 Conditioning Before test, samples shall be placed for at least 4 h under the temperature condition of the reference standard environment in accordance with the stipulations in GB/T 22049-2019.

6 Test Methods 6.1 Test Conditions 6.1.1 The tensile speed of the tension test machine shall be: (100 ± 5) mm/min.

6.1.2 In accordance with the stipulations in GB/T 22049-2019, conduct the test under the temperature condition of the reference standard environment.

6.2 Test Procedures

6.2.1 Adjust the zero point of the tension test machine; set up the tensile speed.

6.2.2 Use the upper clamp on the tension test machine to clamp the upper band or the thong; use the lower clamp to clamp the shoe sole. The part that connects the bottom of the upper band cannot be clamped.

6.2.3 Adjust the location of the fixture. Conduct visual inspection to make the force-bearing direction of the upper band or the thong vertical to the shoe sole, and consistent with the force application direction of the tension test machine.
