Introduction
International Standard Catalogues (ISBDs series) and Anglo-American Cataloging Regulations (AACR2) have served half of the library's document cataloging for more than a century. The national standard for document description in our country was first published in 1983, and it has been used in libraries in our country for more than 30 years.
With the rapid changes in the types of resources and the rapid growth of the number of resources in the digital environment, the description rules compiled by resource types are no longer suitable.
The needs of the rapidly changing digital environment development cannot meet the needs of resource description and organization in the future Semantic Web environment.
In.1998, the IFLA Project Record Functional Requirements Research Group released its research report. Functional Requirements for Biblio-graphicRecords(FRBR). The report stands at the height of the description of the full resource system of the digital society, and analyzes the entities involved in the project data.
Based on analysis, three groups of entity relationship models are proposed. On this basis, FRBR combs the attributes of each entity and the relationship between entities in detail.
FRBR is a landmark research report, which has had a profound impact on the field of document description. After the release of FRBR, the IFLA and AACR2 joint revision committee have successively initiated the development of a new generation of description rules based on FRBR. In.2010, RDA.
ResourceDescriptionandAccess was officially released; in 2011, InternationalStandardBibliographicDescription.
ConsolidatedEdition is released.
With the development and changes of international cataloguing standards, how should my country's cataloguing standards keep up with new development trends and how to update existing ones?
The National Standard for Document Description of the National Information and Documentation Standardization Technical Committee is on the agenda. In.2012 and 2013, all the National Information and Documentation Standardization Technical Committee held two cataloguing seminars, organizing major domestic library directors and cataloging experts to review Chinese literature the key and directional issues of the development of national standards and the development trend of international literature were discussed in depth. through After discussion, consensus was reached on the following issues.
a) Combine the GB/T 3792 series of standards into a unified standard;
b) On the basis of revising the original standard, follow the unified version of ISBD and make reference to RDA for development.
This standard applies to the description of various types of resources by the target organization. This standard provides the maximum range that may be required in various applications.
The description specification of the surrounding description information, so it includes the most basic data elements required by a variety of application scenarios, but these elements are not it is necessary for all project applications. In this standard, a small number of elements are necessary elements, such as the title, which must appear in the description of each resource in. Some elements are necessary elements, such as the version description, which is necessary when the resource has this information. Most elements are optional of. In this standard, each element title is marked with a term. mandatory or necessary, and unmarked elements are optional elements.
This standard forms part of the complete catalog record and cannot be used independently, and constitutes other elements of the complete catalog record, such as access points and subject information is not included in this standard. The information of these elements is described according to other standards.
The description of collection information, such as the location of resource collection, information, and the availability of electronic resources, is not within the scope of this standard.
These elements are given in the collection description of GB/T 24424-2009.
When describing a resource with multiple types of characteristics (e.g., an electronic continuous resource, a continuously released digital land Figure), should be combined with the description of various types of resources to describe all aspects of resources, including content, carrier, and distribution methods.
