Scope
GB/T 37576-2019 is the English-translated version of 金属埋地储气装置阴极保护技术.
GB/T 37576-2019 deals with cathodic protection on the outer surface of buried metallic gas storage devices.
Clause 1 says the standard specifies the determination and the criteria, the system design, the installation, the control of parasitic current, the operation test and maintenance, and the record requirements, and that it applies to the external surface cathodic protection system of new and established metal buried gas storage devices.
Clause 2 cites GB/T 21448, GB/T 33373, GB 50058, GB/T 50393, GB/T 50698, SY/T 0017, ISO 15589.1 and NACE RP0572.
Clause 3 takes its terms from GB/T 33373 and then defines the metal buried gas storage device as a metal container such as a tank, a cylinder or a tank that is buried underground for storing gas, and the cathodic polarization potential as the cathodic protection potential without the IR drop, IR being the product of the current I flowing through the cathodic protection loop and the electrolyte resistance R between the protected body and the reference electrode in that loop.
Clause 4 lists the symbols and abbreviations and starts with Ept, the protection potential threshold value that does not contain the IR drop, which the page says is equivalent to Ep in ISO 15589.1; the draft stops in the middle of that entry, so the design, installation and maintenance clauses are not shown.
The standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and is under the jurisdiction of the National Anti-corrosion Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC381). It was issued on June 4, 2019 and has applied since May 1, 2020.
