1 Scope

This standard specifies the management procedures for on-board waste, including disposal, collection, classification, marking, treatment and storage; and specifies the ship-to-shore interface.

And the transportation requirements for garbage from the ship to the port receiving facility. MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Annex V specifies the ship

Minimum standards for waste management.

Emission discharge

Any emissions resulting from the escape, handling, spillage, leakage, pumping, discharge or dumping of the ship.

Harmful substance harmfulsubstance

If discharged into the sea, it will cause harm to human health, damage living resources and marine life, damage the activity facilities or interfere with other legal interests.

Any substance that uses the ocean, including any substance subject to the MARPOL Convention.
