1 Scope

This standard specifies the structural and performance requirements for magnetic compasses, compasses, and azimuth readers for navigation and steering. According to ship design, regulations

Two types of compass cabinets.

This standard applies to liquid magnetic compass.

--- According to the relevant rules for navigation and steering when the ship is sailing;

--- has a direct reading system;

--- Reflective, projection or transfer type.

In this standard, the magnetic compass is composed of a pivoting guide system placed in a liquid-filled basin, and the pivot is often used inside and outside the basin.

The flat frame is supported. This standard contains magnetic compasses with impervious flat frames. The requirements for gimbals do not apply to such magnetic compasses.

This standard applies to.

---All applicable SOLAS Conventions (for ships with a total tonnage of not less than 150t for ocean-going voyages, and not for the total ton of ocean-going voyages)

Ships of not less than 500t) and ships of Class A magnetic compasses;

---All ships that do not apply to the SOLAS Convention and install Class A or Class B magnetic compasses;

--- Lifeboat/Lifeboat with Class B magnetic compass (detailed in Appendix H).

This standard does not apply to.

a) the magnetic compass of the dry dial;

b) a magnetic compass designed differently from the above principles or a magnetic compass that does not conform to the given description;

c) Hand-held magnetic compass.
