Scope

GB/T 36831-2018 is the English-translated version of 松纺锤瘤锈病菌检疫鉴定方法.

GB/T 36831-2018 gives the method for detecting and identifying Cronartium fusiforme Hedgcock & Hunt ex Cummins, the fungus that causes fusiform rust of pine. It applies to plant quarantine inspection of the host pines, of the alternate hosts and of products that may carry the pathogen.

The standard first defines the structures used in identification across the life cycle of the rust: pycnia and pycniospores, aecia and aeciospores, uredinia and urediniospores, telia and teliospores, basidia and basidiospores.

On that basis it sets out how quarantine laboratories examine samples and confirm the presence of the pathogen. It was issued on 17 September 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.
