Scope
GB/T 36772-2018 is the English-translated version of 小条实蝇属检疫鉴定方法.
GB/T 36772-2018 sets out the methods for the quarantine detection and identification of fruit flies of the genus Ceratitis Macleay. It applies to identifying the species of this genus in plant quarantine work.
Identification relies on the morphology of the fly, and the standard defines the structures used to tell species apart, starting with the genae, occiput and face of the head.
It then names the bristles of the thorax, among them the scapular, anterior and posterior notopleural, anterior and posterior supra-alar, intra-alar and prescutellar bristles, giving the position of each on the scutum, the notopleuron or the scutellum. It was issued on 17 September 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.
