Scope

GB/T 36144-2018 is the English-translated version of 铁矿石中铅、砷、镉、汞、氟和氯含量的限量.

GB/T 36144-2018 sets limits on the content of six harmful elements in iron ore: lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, fluorine and chlorine, each expressed as a mass fraction.

Besides the limits, it specifies how the ore is sampled and prepared, with reference to GB/T 10322.1, and which methods are used to determine each element.

The methods it cites come from the GB/T 6730 series and from SN/T standards, and include flame and hydride generation atomic absorption, ion chromatography, ICP-MS, atomic fluorescence and direct mercury analysis.

It applies to natural and processed iron ore intended for steel smelting, and its terms follow GB/T 20565. It serves to check whether iron ore stays within the permitted content of these elements. It was issued on 14 May 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.
