Scope
GB/T 35920-2018 is the English-translated version of 低聚糖通用技术规则.
GB/T 35920-2018 lays down the general technical rules for oligosaccharides, in liquid or solid form, used in food or in feed. It covers products made from natural materials or their derivatives by enzymatic conversion, acid-base conversion or direct extraction.
The standard gives the terms and definitions, the categories of oligosaccharides and how products are to be named, for instance after their main oligosaccharide component, as with trehalose, lactulose or raffinose.
Its technical requirements cover raw and auxiliary materials, sensory and physico-chemical requirements, a functional oligosaccharide content above 50% on a dry basis where no product standard exists, and hygiene, which for edible products refers to GB 15203.
It also covers test methods and labelling. It was issued on 6 February 2018 and has applied since 1 September 2018.
