GB/T 35902-2018 is the Chinese national standard for the germplasm of the ark shell, Scapharca subcrenata (Lischke, 1869), a bivalve of the family Arcidae.
It gives the scientific name and taxonomic position of the species and describes its main morphological features, such as the long oval, thick and bulging shell with radiating ribs, the narrow linear hinge with fine teeth and the dentate ventral margin.
It also covers growth, reproduction, cytogenetic and biochemical genetic characteristics, together with the detection methods and the decision rules for judging a sample.
Hatcheries, fishery research institutes and inspection bodies use it to identify and check ark shell germplasm, with sampling under GB/T 18654.2 and isozyme analysis under GB/T 25877. It was issued on 6 February 2018 and has applied since 1 September 2018.
