GB/T 3498-2008 (Petroleum products -- Determination of dropping point of lubricating greases (wide temperature range)) is available as an English-translated PDF.

GB/T 3498-2008 — This standard applies to the determination of a wide temperature range grease dropping point. Note 1. For the dropping point of grease to help identify the type of quality control and benchmarking is useful.

However, due to the drop point measurement is a static test, and therefore recognize the test results for its performance grease limited significance. Note 2. The statistical tests showed dropping point data Under normal circumstances, this standard and GB/T 4929 as measured in the range of 260 °C is the same.

When the result is not the same, it does not matter, but the supply and demand sides of the test method used should agree.

Foreword

This revised standard adopts the International Standard ISO 6299:1998 "grease dropping point (wide temperature range) Determination" (in English).

This standard is based on ISO 6299:1998 re-drafted.

In order for China's national conditions, the use of this standard in the ISO 6299:1998 when modified. This standard and ISO 6299:1998 Main Differences are as follows.

--- Reference standard using China's current national standards;

--- Increased the fifth gear oven temperature 343 °C ± 3 °C;

--- Canceled Appendix A "thermometer technical conditions", a direct reference to the ISO 6299:1998 thermometer specifications consistent with the requirements of GB/T 514 number of GB -29 thermometer;

--- Cancellation Appendix B "Reference." this standard replaces GB/T 3498-1983 "wide temperature range grease dropping point determination." this standard compared with GB/T 3498-1983 The main changes are as follows.

--- This standard test method was modified furnace temperature, increase oven temperature 316 °C ± 3 °C as the fourth gear, the fourth tranche of the original furnace 343 °C ± 3 °C as the fifth gear;

--- The standard of accuracy has been modified;

--- This standard appendix removed about the thermometer technical conditions A.

This standard by the National Standardization Technical Committee on products and lubricant oil (SAC/TC280) proposed.

The standard by the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation.

This standard was drafted. China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation Research Institute of Petroleum.

Note 1. For the dropping point of grease to help identify the type of quality control and benchmarking is useful. However, due to the drop point measurement is a static test, and therefore recognize the test results for its performance grease limited significance.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this standard.

Dropping point grease composition is given to the value that represents the grease cup grease dripping from the first drop and reaches the temperature at the bottom of the tube when the temperature Values \u200b\u200bneed to be amended.

The thickening agent is dispersed in a stable semi-fluid liquid lubricant in the formation of the solid product.

When the first drop of grease dripping from the grease cup to the bottom of the tube, thermometer shows the temperature.

In the grease, so that fine particles dispersible material skeleton structure is formed in a liquid lubricant.

4 Summary

Grease filled grease cup, into test tubes in an aluminum block pre-set thermostatic oven. Place a thermometer tube, thermometer Grease does not contact with the sample, measuring the temperature in the tube without contact with the sample conditions. When the temperature rises inside the tube to the first drop of grease when the sample cup to grease dripping from the bottom of the tube, a thermometer to record the temperature display, as the observation point drop, accurate to 1 °C. Simultaneous recording aluminum block Furnace temperature, precise to 1 °C. Take aluminum block oven temperature and the temperature difference between the thermometer tube one-third as a correction coefficient, and the observation point drop Adding, dropping point is the grease sample.
