China's national specification for battery electric goods vehicles. It specifies the terms and definitions, the requirements and the test methods for electric vehicles built to carry goods. Electric propulsion arrived in goods vehicles from the bottom of the range upward, and for reasons of duty cycle rather than sentiment. A delivery van running a fixed urban round covers a predictable distance, returns to the same depot every night, spends much of its day stopped or in traffic where an engine is at its worst, and operates exactly where air quality regulation bites hardest. Every one of those characteristics favours a battery. The specification has to address what is different about a goods vehicle as opposed to a car: payload matters, and the battery competes directly with it; the vehicle is loaded and unloaded repeatedly, so range varies with the day's work; and the operator will judge it against a diesel on total cost per kilometre rather than on list price. The requirements and test methods here are what make those comparisons possible.

This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, and test methods of battery electric goods vehicles. This Standard is applicable to battery electric goods vehicles (hereafter known as "vehicles" for short).

3 Terms and definitions

7 In accordance with the test method prescribed by GB/T 18385, the maximum gradeability of the vehicle is measured. It shall not be less than 20%.

4.5.2 Range Class N1 vehicles, according to the mode-test (including suburban mode) of GB/T 18386, shall be tested; the range shall not be lower than 80 km. Other types of vehicles, by the isokinetic method of GB/T 18386, shall be tested; the range shall not be lower than 120 km. 4.5.3 30 min maximum speed The vehicle, in accordance with the test method specified in GB/T 18385, shall measure the 30 min maximum speed. Its value shall not be less than 70 km/h.

4.6 Power storage battery The power battery shall meet the following requirements: - The vehicle's power storage battery shall not use lead-acid battery; - The cycle life, safety, and electrical performance shall conform to the requirements of relevant national regulations.

4.7 Reliability requirements

4.7.1 Mileage distribution The total mileage of reliability driving test is 15000 km, including 5000 km of intensified bad roads, 5000 km of flat roads, and 5000 km of high-speed roads. The road performance test mileage before reliability driving test, and mileage of each test room can be included in reliability test mileage.
