3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 34560.1 and the following apply to

this document.

3.1 Atmospheric corrosion resisting steel

Steel in which a certain number of alloying elements, such as P, Cr, Ni, Cu, etc.,

have intentionally been added in order to increase its resistance to atmospheric

corrosion, by forming an auto-protective oxide layer on the base metal.

Note: These steels are commonly known as "weathering steels".

4 Classification and designation representation

4.1 Classification

According to the phosphorus content of steel, the steel of this Part is divided

into two classes:

a) Class W: It indicates atmospheric corrosion resisting structural steel;

b) Class WP: It indicates atmospheric corrosion resisting structural steel with

a high P content.

4.2 Designation representation

The steel designation consists of five parts: Chinese pinyin "Q" of "yield

strength", specified minimum upper yield strength value, code for "atmospheric

corrosion resisting steel" (English first letter "W" or "WP"), delivery state (N or

+N), quality grade (C, D).

Example: Q355WPNC

Where:

Q - The first letter of Chinese pinyin "Qu" for the yield strength of steel;
