1 Scope

This standard specifies the classification, appearance, testing, verification and re-inspection, verification test and complex of pipe system gasket sealing mechanical fittings and accessories the number of inspection, sample preparation and installation, test methods, inspection, product marking, packaging.

This standard applies to piping system gasket seal mechanical fittings and accessories design, manufacture and acceptance.

2 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

Gasket sealed mechanical joints gasketedmechanicalcoupling Means for connecting pipes and tubes, pipes and fittings or accessories and accessories and sealing joints with elastomers (seals).

NOTE Connectors may or may not provide mechanical restraints for pipes or attachments.

Slotted straight pipe end of the mechanical joint groovedmechanicalcoupling Contains two or more housings, fasteners (such as bolts, nuts, or pins) and compression seals.

Note.For mechanical connection and sealing slotted straight pipe ends or accessories, constitute a connection. see picture 1.
