Scope

GB/T 33814-2017 is the English-translated version of 焊接H型钢.

GB/T 33814-2017 is the Chinese national standard for welded H-section steel, used when such sections are selected, fabricated and accepted.

It fixes the ordering content, the code and the way a specification is written, the dimensions, shape, weight and permissible deviations, the technical requirements and production, the inspection rules and the packaging, marking and quality certificate.

The code is WH, and sections are normally delivered on theoretical weight calculated with a density of 7.85 g/cm³. Webs not thicker than 20 mm may be joined to the flange by fillet welds, thicker webs by combined butt and fillet welds; inspection batches are limited to 300 t.

Annex A is informative and gives cross-sectional dimensions, areas, theoretical weights and section properties. It was issued on 31 May 2017 and has applied since 1 February 2018.

4.2 Specification representation

The specification of welded H-section steel shall be expressed in the following form.

5 Dimension, shape, weight and permissible deviation

5.1 Dimension and representation method

5.3 Weight and permissible deviation

Welded H-section steel shall be delivered according to the theoretical weight (the theoretical weight shall be calculated regarding the density as 7.85 g/cm³).

Agreed upon between he supply and demand parties and specified in the contract, it may delivery according to the actual weight.

6 Technical requirements and production

6.1 Steel

6.1.1 Steel used for welded H-section steel shall comply with the specifications of relevant standards such as GB/T 699, GB/T 700, GB/T 712, GB/T 714, GB/T 1591, GB/T 3274, GB/T 4171, GB/T 19879.

6.2 Welding materials

6.2.1 The welding material used for welded H-section steel shall comply with the specifications of relevant standards such as GB/T 2537, GB/T 4282, GB/T 5117, GB/T 5118, GB/T 5293, GB/T 8110, GB/T 10045, GB/T 12470, GB/T 17493.

6.3 Welding

6.3.1 When the thickness of the web of welded H-section steel is not greater than 20 mm, the web and the flange plate may be connected by fillet welds. The weld foot size hf shall meet the design requirements.

6.3.2 When the thickness of the web of welded H-section steel is greater than 20 mm, the web and flange plate should be connected by partially or fully welded butt joint and fillet joint combined welds. The weld quality grade shall be determined in accordance with the relevant specifications of GB 50661-2011.

6.3.6 Welding H-section steel can adopt welding methods such as submerged arc automatic welding (boat welding or flat fillet welding), solid welding wire or flux cored wire gas shielded welding, electrode arc welding, flux cored wire self-protective welding and their combinations. The welding method and the welding process shall meet the requirements of relevant standards.

6.4 Welding personnel

6.4.1 Welders engaged in the manufacture of welded H-section steel shall take technical qualification examinations according to the requirements of steel type, welding joint form, welding method, welding position, etc., and obtain the corresponding certificate of conformity. The certified welder shall weld within the recognize range of the certificate of conformity.
