GB/T 33749-2017 is the Chinese guideline for water efficiency benchmarking in industrial enterprises.
It gives the terms and definitions, the basic requirements, the procedure and methods, and asks an enterprise to build a benchmarking system that reflects its size, the state of its main water-using equipment and its level of water management, with indicators such as water intake per unit of product, water use per unit of output value, key process water use, recycling rate, loss rate, wastewater reuse rate and metering coverage.
The general procedure runs from status analysis and the choice of a benchmark to comparative analysis, carrying out the programme and assessing its effect. Data are measured to GB 24789 and GB/T 26719, with a water balance test to GB/T 12452 if needed. It was issued on 12 May 2017 and has applied since 1 December 2017.
