Scope

GB/T 33329-2016 is the English-translated version of 颜料和体质颜料 灼烧损失和灼烧残余物的测定.

GB/T 33329-2016 is the national standard for the determination of the loss on ignition and the residue on ignition of pigments and extenders, which the page also renders as pigment and physical pigments.

The preview of this standard is very short: it prints no table of contents, no clause 1 and no list of normative references, and the only clause it reproduces is clause 6, operating procedures.

That clause calls for two parallel determinations and runs as follows: the crucible is heated to constant weight in a high temperature furnace at the temperature specified in the product standard or at an agreed temperature; a suitable amount of pigment or physical pigment sample, weighed to 0.1 mg either as received or after pre-drying at (105 ± 2) °C to constant weight, is placed in the cooled and weighed crucible and must not exceed one third of its capacity; the crucible is then heated and burned in the furnace at the temperature and for the time given in the product standard or agreed, and is moved into the dryer and weighed.

A note adds that where the heating and burning time of the sample is neither specified nor agreed, heating, cooling and weighing are repeated until constant weight is reached.

The cross references in that clause, to 4.1 for the high temperature furnace, 4.3 for the crucible and 4.4 for the dryer, show a clause 4 that the preview does not print.

The foreword says the standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association and is held by the National Committee for Standardization of Coatings and Pigments (SAC/TC5), and names CNOOC Changzhou Paint Chemical Research Institute Co., Ltd. first among the drafting units.

The page files it under ICS 87.060.10 and Chinese classification G53. It was issued on 13 December 2016 and has applied since 1 July 2017.

Foreword

This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

6 Operating procedures

Parallel measurement twice.

The crucible (see 4.3) is heated to constant weight in a high temperature furnace (see 4.1) at the temperature specified in the product standard or at an agreed temperature, and the appropriate amount of pigment Or physical pigment samples (accurate to 0.1mg) or pre-dried by (105 ± 2) °C to constant weight pigment or physical pigment samples (accurate to 0.1mg) Placed in a cooled and weighed crucible (see 4.3), the sample volume does not exceed 1/3 of the crucible capacity, and the crucible containing the sample is placed in a high temperature furnace (see 4.1) Product standard or agreed temperature and time After heating and burning, remove the crucible into the dryer (see 4.4) and allow to weigh.

Note: If the heating and burning time of the sample is not specified or agreed, the heating is repeated for heating, cooled and weighed until constant weight.
