1 Scope

This standard specifies the equipment and steps for measuring the parallel tensile strength of the article. This standard applies to insulating products.

This standard can be used to determine whether the article has sufficient strength to withstand the stress during transport and application.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

Parallel tensile strength tensilestrengthparaleltofaces sigmat the maximum tensile load recorded along the surface during the test is divided by the cross-sectional area of the specimen.

4 Principle

The fixture is attached to the test machine and the specimen is then mounted and subjected to a tensile test at a constant rate until it is broken.

Record the maximum tensile load and calculate the tensile strength.
