Scope

GB/T 32910.6-2025 is the English-translated version of 数据中心 资源利用 第6部分:水资源使用效率.

GB/T 32910.6-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering how much water a data centre uses for each kilowatt-hour its IT equipment consumes — the boundary that decides which water counts, the split between municipal supply, reclaimed water and the rainwater or condensate recovered on site, the metering of the water and of the IT equipment electricity, the WUE and the evaluation value calculated from them, the efficiency grades, and the disclosure that makes one operator's figure comparable with another's. Part 6 of the series, first edition, with the electrical energy efficiency part GB/T 32910.3-2016 that supplies the IT power term. In force from 1 December 2025. Issued on 30 May 2025, it has been in force since 1 December 2025.

3.2

After treatment, the urban water supply unit provides reusable sewage (wastewater) to customers that meets the water quality requirements for certain purposes.

3.3

The data center collects rainwater, dehumidified water, fuel combustion water and other non-drinking water resources on site, which are self-treated to meet the cooling needs.

Water quality standards and requirements for equipment use and reuse of water.

Note. The water generated by recycling conventional water sources (such as groundwater and tap water) in the data center does not belong to the data center's self-produced recycled water.

3.4

The amount of water that is consumed and lost in various forms in maintaining the normal operation of a data center and cannot return to surface water bodies or underground aquifers.

3.5 [Source. GB/T 32910.3-2016, 3.3]

The total amount of electricity consumed by various information equipment in a data center.
