GB/T 32818-2016 is the English-translated version of 冶炼设备 术语.

China's national vocabulary for the smelting equipment of the ferrous metals industry - the machinery that turns coal into coke, fines into sinter, ore into iron, iron into steel and steel into cast strand. It exists because that machinery is bought, designed and built across languages. A coke oven battery, a sinter plant or a continuous caster is specified by one engineering house, manufactured by two or three suppliers in different countries and erected by a fourth, and every one of those handovers is a translation. When the same machine is called a larry car by one party, a charging car by another and a coal charging wagon by a third, the ambiguity ends up in the drawings and in the contract. The standard fixes the Chinese term, gives the accepted English equivalents alongside it, and defines each one by what the machine is made of and what operation it completes, so that a definition can be checked against a real piece of equipment rather than argued over. Its scope runs across six specialities - coking equipment, agglomeration equipment, ironmaking equipment, steelmaking equipment, continuous casting equipment, and the detection, control, automation and intelligent equipment that ties them together - and it applies to the naming of metallurgical equipment in research, in engineering design documents, and in technical literature and information. It closes with an index, which is how a vocabulary of this size is actually used: not read through, but looked up.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard was proposed by and is under the administration of the National Technical Committee on Metallurgical Equipment of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 409).

The drafting organisation of this standard is China Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd.

The main drafters of this standard are Meng Lingzhong, Yang Ladao, Song Hua and Qin Yi.

GB/T 32818-2016 was issued on 29 August 2016 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China, and has been in force since 1 March 2017.

1 Scope

China's national vocabulary for the smelting equipment of the ferrous metals industry - the machinery that turns coal into coke, fines into sinter, ore into iron, iron into steel and steel into cast strand. This standard defines the basic and commonly used terms for the smelting equipment of ferrous metals, including the terms of the coking equipment, agglomeration equipment, ironmaking equipment, steelmaking equipment, continuous casting equipment and detection, control and intelligent equipment specialities, together with their definitions or explanations.

This standard applies to the designation of metallurgical equipment in publications such as scientific research, engineering design documents, scientific and technical literature and information.

2.1 Coke oven

2.1 coke oven; cokemaking oven; furnace oven (also called coking furnace): the kiln in which metallurgical coke is made from coal.

2.2 Coke oven machinery

2.2 coke oven machinery (also called coke oven equipment): the general term for the special machinery of the coke oven, matched to the oven, which completes the main operations of the coking process - coal charging, stamping, coke pushing and coke quenching - and at the same time performs the auxiliary operations of smoke suppression and dust removal during charging and pushing; the opening and closing of the charging hole lids, the oven doors and the levelling door lids; the cleaning of the oven doors, the door frames and the ascension pipes; the cleaning of the oven top and of the machine-side and coke-side operating platforms; and the recovery of spillage coal and of the coke from the ends of the cake.

2.2.1 top charging coke oven equipment: the coke oven machinery matched to a top charging coke oven.

2.2.1.1 larry car; charging car: the coke oven machine composed of a steel structure car body with an operator's cab, a travelling mechanism, coal hoppers, a coal discharge mechanism, a mechanism for opening and closing the charging hole lids and for cleaning the oven top, a dust collecting mechanism, and pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and automation systems, which takes coal from the coal tower, weighs it and charges it into the carbonisation chamber of the coke oven.

2.2.1.2 pusher; coke pusher; coke pushing ram; coke pushing machine: the coke oven machine composed of a steel structure car body with an operator's cab, a travelling mechanism, a pushing mechanism, a levelling mechanism, a mechanism for opening and closing the oven door (small door), a mechanism for cleaning the oven door and the door frame, a mechanism for handling the coke at the ends of the cake, a mechanism for cleaning the ascension pipes, a mechanism for cleaning the machine-side operating platform, and pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and automation systems, which performs the levelling, the opening and closing of the machine-side oven door and the pushing operations.

2.2.1.3 coke guide: the coke oven machine composed of a steel structure car body with an operator's cab, a travelling mechanism, a guide grid, a mechanism for opening and closing the oven door, a mechanism for cleaning the oven door and the door frame, a mechanism for handling the coke at the ends of the cake, a dust collecting mechanism, and pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and automation systems, which guides the incandescent coke cake pushed out of the carbonisation chamber into the quenching car (coke bucket).

2.2.1.4 electric locomotive: the coke oven machine composed of a steel structure car body with a driver's cab, a travelling mechanism, and pneumatic, electrical and automation systems, which hauls the quenching car and controls its travel, its braking and the opening of its doors.

2.2.1.5 hydraulic reversing machine (also called hydraulic gas reversing machine): the coke oven machine composed of a hydraulic station, a double-acting reciprocating cylinder and an electrical control system, which drives the reversing device of the coke oven heating system so that the gas, the air and the waste gas change direction at the set intervals.

2.2.1.6 spillage coal elevator: the coke oven machine composed of a bucket-chain elevator and a spillage coal hopper, used to send the coal brought out during levelling up into the larry car above.

2.2.2 stamping type coke oven equipment; tamping type coke oven equipment: the coke oven machinery matched to a side-charged stamping coke oven.

2.2.2.1 tamper; stamper: the coke oven machine composed of a steel structure frame, a stamping transmission mechanism, a hammer-stopping mechanism and stamping hammers, which stamps loose coal powder into a coal cake inside the coal box.

2.2.2.2 stamping-charging-pushing machine; SCP; tamping-charging-pushing machine (also called SCP integrated machine): the large multi-function coke oven machine composed of a steel structure car body with an operator's cab, a travelling mechanism, a coal box, a stamping device, a charging mechanism, a pushing mechanism, a side coal feeding mechanism, a mechanism for opening and closing the oven door, a mechanism for cleaning the oven door, a mechanism for handling the coke at the ends of the cake, a mechanism for cleaning the ascension pipes, a mechanism for cleaning the machine-side operating platform, and pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and automation systems, which performs coal loading, feeding, stamping, charging and pushing.

2.2.2.3 dust-collecting car (also called smoke guiding car): the coke oven machine composed of a steel structure car body with a driver's cab, a travelling mechanism, a dust collecting and smoke guiding mechanism, and pneumatic, electrical and automation systems, which collects the dust and guides the smoke during the charging of a stamping coke oven.

2.2.2.4 rock type feeder: the coke oven machine composed of a steel structure frame, a feed chute, a linkage mechanism, a rocker wheel set and a gate plate, which conveys the coal powder to the coal box.

2.2.3 coke dry quenching equipment; CDQ equipment: the complete plant for quenching and waste heat recovery which cools the incandescent coke by passing an inert gas (generally nitrogen) counter-currently through the coke bed, and uses the heat exchanged between the red coke and the inert gas to raise steam. It consists mainly of the hot coke charging equipment, the cooled coke discharge equipment, the gas circulation equipment, the dry quenching furnace and the dry quenching boiler equipment.

2.2.3.1 dry quenching furnace; dry quenching tank: the core dry quenching equipment, built of a steel structure shell lined with refractory brick and divided internally into a pre-storage chamber, an inclined duct zone and a cooling chamber, in which the heat exchange between the red coke and the cooling gas takes place. By structure it is divided into circular and rectangular types.

2.2.3.2 coke ladle hoist (also called coke bucket hoist): the dry quenching equipment composed of a traversing mechanism and a hoisting mechanism, which raises the bucket full of red coke up the hoisting frame to the top of the dry quenching tank.

2.2.3.3 charging device for hot coke: the dry quenching equipment composed of a steel structure, a travelling mechanism, a coke drop hopper and a water seal mechanism, which drops the red coke into the dry quenching furnace from its top.

2.2.3.4 coke bucket car: the dry quenching equipment composed of a steel structure car body lined with heat-resistant cast iron plates, a sealing cover, a rotating mechanism, a travelling mechanism, a door opening mechanism, a haulage mechanism and a positioning system, which receives the incandescent coke pushed out of the carbonisation chamber and takes it to the dry quenching furnace.

2.2.4 coke wet quenching equipment: the complete plant which cools the red coke by spraying it with water. It includes mainly the quenching car, the quenching tower and the coke wharf.

2.2.4.1 quenching car; coke car: the coke oven machine composed of a steel structure car body lined with heat-resistant cast iron plates, a travelling mechanism, a door opening mechanism, a haulage mechanism and a braking system, which receives the incandescent coke pushed out of the carbonisation chamber, takes it to the quenching tower and discharges the quenched coke onto the coke wharf.

2.2.4.2 quenching tower; coke quenching tower: the quenching equipment fitted with water spray facilities and with waste gas, waste water and solid waste treatment facilities.

2.2.4.3 coke wharf; wharf: the device on which the coke is cooled and drained after wet quenching, and on which any coke not fully extinguished is quenched again.

2.2.5 coke-quenching equipment by pressurized steam: the complete plant which sprays water into a sealed coke bucket loaded with red coke and uses the steam generated by the contact of the water with the red coke, under pressure, to pass through the coke and quench it while exchanging heat.

2.3 Coal briquetting equipment

2.3 coal briquetting equipment: the complete mechanical plant which mixes coal powder with a binder powder and presses it into briquettes.

2.3.1 coal mixer: the equipment which mixes the coal powder with the binder powder.

2.3.2 coal briquetting press: the equipment which presses the coal material (coke oven blend coal, hot briquetted semi-coke and cold briquetted coke feed) into shape - lump coal, ribbon-shaped cakes and briquettes.

2.3.2.1 double-roller press: the briquetting press in which the coal material is pressed into cakes or briquettes between a pair of counter-rotating forming rolls.

3.1 Sintering equipment

3.1 sintering equipment: the complete plant which uses the heat released by the combustion of the coke breeze (or anthracite) in the sinter bed to bring about the sintering reaction and an incomplete melting between the ore particles, so that they bind into a cake, and which then cools, crushes and screens it to give a finished sinter of high porosity whose mineral composition differs from that of natural ore.

3.1.1 proportioning equipment: the equipment which blends the iron-bearing raw materials, the fluxes and the fuel in fixed ratios into a mixture, according to the chemical composition required of the sinter by the blast furnace and to the supply situation of the raw materials.

3.1.1.1 ore bin: the vessel for storing iron ore, welded from steel plate, cylindrical at the top and a truncated cone at the bottom.

3.1.1.2 disc feeder: the feeder in which fine material (particle size generally in the range 0 mm to 50 mm) flows out through the opening between a sleeve and the disc below it and is fed continuously by the rotation of the disc. The feed rate is controlled by adjusting the rotational speed of the receiving disc and the size of the opening between the sleeve and the disc.

3.1.1.3 constant rate feeder: the proportioning feeder which feeds accurately by means of an electronic belt scale. It is generally of two kinds, the constant rate disc feeder and the constant rate screw feeder.

3.1.1.4 constant rate disc feeder: the constant rate feeding device formed by combining an electronic belt scale with a disc feeder.

3.1.1.5 constant rate screw feeder: the constant rate feeder formed by combining an electronic belt scale with a screw feeder.

3.1.1.6 electronic weighing belt: the belt conveyor for proportioning fitted with an electronic weighing device. It can measure and indicate the instantaneous throughput of the material and display its accumulated total mass, and can be linked to a computer for the automatic control of the blending ratio.

3.1.2 mixer (also called mixing machine): the mechanical device which mixes, moistens and granulates the proportioned blend.

3.1.2.1 primary mixer: the mixer used to mix and moisten the proportioned blend.

3.1.2.2 secondary mixer: the mixer used to mix the blend further after the primary mixer and to granulate it.
