Scope

GB/T 32143-2015 is the English-translated version of 数字放映银幕的安全及环保要求.

GB/T 32143-2015 specifies the safety and environmental protection requirements for digital projection screens and the test methods for them, and in addition sets requirements for the discharge of waste gas, waste water and solid waste from screen production sites and for labour protection there.

Clause 1 states that it applies to the projection screens used with digital projectors and digital cinema projectors, and that other screens may refer to it.

Clause 3 defines the digital projection screen as a screen whose surface has predetermined optical characteristics of light reflection and transmission for use with those projectors, defines electronic information products through the categories of radar, communication, broadcasting and television, computer, household, measuring instrument and special electronic products together with components, materials and accessories, and defines the toxic and hazardous substances or elements as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers excluding decabromodiphenyl ether.

Its introduction places the standard in the national system of screen standards, which covers the screens used for film, slide, video and other projection and rests on GB/T 13982 for reflective and transmissive projection screens together with JB/T 6162, JB/T 7809 and JB/T 6839.

The normative references follow that split between product and environmental controls: GB/T 2408-2008 and GB/T 5455-2014 for the burning behaviour of plastics and textiles, GB/T 13982-2011 for the screens themselves, GB/T 24128-2009 and FZ/T 60030-2009 for mould and mildew performance testing, GB 18583-2008 for harmful substances in adhesives used in interior decoration, SJ/T 11363-2006 and SJ/T 11365-2006 for hazardous substances in electronic information products and their test methods, and GB 8978-1996, GB 16297-1996 and GB 18599-2001 for waste water discharge, air pollutant emission and the storage and disposal of general industrial solid waste.

The standard was proposed by the China Machinery Industry Federation and is administered by the standardization technical committee for film and audio-visual industry machinery, and the drafting organisations named on the page include screen and audio-visual equipment makers, a textile company, a plastics company, a trade association and the Qinhuangdao Audio-Visual Machinery Research Institute. It was issued on 10 December 2015 and has applied since 1 July 2016.
