Scope

GB/T 31790-2025 is the English-translated version of 茄科作物重要类病毒检测鉴定方法.

GB/T 31790-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the four viroids of potato, tomato and pepper, namely potato spindle tuber viroid, Columnea latent viroid, pepper chat fruit viroid and tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid — the taxonomic information, the principle of the method, the preparation of plant material and seed, the RT-PCR and the real-time fluorescence RT-PCR, and the reading of the result, a viroid being naked RNA with no coat protein and so beyond the reach of serology. It replaces GB/T 31790-2015, which covered potato spindle tuber viroid alone; the revision widens the scope to four viroids and drops the two-dimensional gel electrophoresis method. In force from 1 November 2025. Issued on 25 April 2025, it has been in force since 1 November 2025, replacing GB/T 31790-2015.
