Scope
GB/T 31303-2014 is the English-translated version of 奥氏体-铁素体型双相不锈钢棒.
GB/T 31303-2014 is the product standard for austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel bars.
Clause 1 states that it specifies the classification and code, the size, shape, weight and allowable deviation, the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificates of those bars, and that it applies to rolled or forged bars whose dimension, taken as diameter, side length, thickness or distance between opposite sides, does not exceed 250mm, adding that bars above 250mm may also be supplied where the supplier and the purchaser so agree.
The standard is built as 1 Scope, 2 Normative references, 3 Ordering contents, 4 Classification and code, 5 Dimensions, shape, weight and allowable deviations, 6 Technical requirements, 7 Test methods, 8 Inspection rules and 9 Packaging, marking and quality certificate, with an informative Appendix A giving the recommended heat treatment system and an informative Appendix B comparing the designations of this standard with those of other similar standards.
Clause 3 requires the contract or order to state the standard number, product name, designation, dimensions, weight, processing method used, delivery status and any special requirements, which makes clear that the standard is written to be invoked in supply contracts.
Clause 4 divides bars by processing method into steel for pressure processing, coded UP and subdivided into hot pressure processing UHP and steel for hot forging UHF, and steel for cutting, coded UC, and provides that bars are supplied as steel for pressure processing where the contract is silent.
Clause 5 refers the dimensions, shape and allowable deviations of rolled bars to GB/T 702-2008 and of forged bars to GB/T 908-2008, applying Group 2 of each by default, sets the usual delivery length at 2000mm to 12000mm with a length deviation of plus 50mm for rolled and plus 80mm for forged bars, and provides for delivery by actual weight.
Clause 6 refers the designation and chemical composition to Table 1 and the composition tolerance of the finished bar to GB/T 222, requires smelting by refining outside the furnace, electroslag remelting or another method meeting the standard, deals with delivery in the heat-treated state and refers the recommended heat treatment system to Table A.1, and refers the mechanical properties to Table 2 while exempting bars for pressure processing from mechanical testing; the text then breaks off inside clause 6.
Clause 2 cites GB/T 222, several methods of the GB/T 223 series, GB/T 2101, GB/T 2975, GB/T 4162, GB/T 4334, GB/T 7736, GB/T 10121, GB/T 10561-2005, GB/T 11170, GB/T 13305, GB/T 15711, GB/T 17505, GB/T 17897, GB/T 20066, GB/T 20123, GB/T 20124 and YB/T 5293. It was issued on 5 December 2014 and has applied since 1 September 2015.

1 Scope
This Standard specifies the classification and code, size, shape, weight and allowable deviation, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and quality certificates of austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel bars.
This Standard applies to rolled or forged austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel bars with dimensions (diameter, side length, thickness or distance of the opposite side) not exceeding 250mm. Austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel bars (hereinafter referred to as steel bars) with dimensions (diameter, side length, thickness or distance of the opposite side) greater than 250mm can also be supplied upon negotiation between the supplier and the purchaser.
